I'm ready for my new family!

Hi! My Name Is Sadie Jo 051126-328

I'm Available

Hi, I’m Sadie Jo.

I spent a long time not really knowing what it meant to have people of my own.

Then Mission RISE happened, DDS got me, and apparently I decided I had some catching up to do.

Because once I figured out that humans could be safe, that they could love me, and that I could actually belong to somebody?

Oh. I became a Velcro dog!

Not the casual kind, either. I’m talking full-sized Great Dane emotional support shadow. If you walk into another room, I’m probably coming. If you sit down, I’d like to be nearby. If you’re wondering whether you really need a 100-ish-pound supervisor while you fold laundry… yes. Obviously.

I was actually one of the lucky Mission RISE dogs who didn’t need much time at the shelter. From the very beginning, I was sweet, gentle, happy, and ridiculously loving, and after only about a week I headed into real home!

Turns out, I am a VERY good house dog.

I’m lower energy, although I do enjoy my walks and we MUST reserve approximately two minutes every day for outdoor zoomies. Please respect my athletic schedule!

I’m house trained, non-destructive, and trusted to free roam the house.

I don’t counter surf, I’m easy to redirect around food, and I don’t jump on people, either!

Furniture privileges are also handled very professionally. If there’s a dog bed in the room, I’ll use it. If you have failed to provide one? Well... You left me no choice. The couch it is!

At night, I sleep soundly on my dog bed in my people’s room because... as previously discussed, where my humans are is where Sadie Jo belongs.

I’m good with kids, and I’ve done well with other dogs, too. Cats are interesting to me, because obviously I need to know what everyone in the house is doing, but I don’t chase them.

I’m also a lovely walking buddy. I walk really well with my prong collar, and I already know “lay down” and “stay.” I’m not a big jumper, and I’m generally a pretty quiet girl.

I do take neighborhood security seriously, though.

If someone comes to the door, I may bark to let you know we have a visitor. After that? My work here is done. I’m not interested in narrating the rest of your day, just the important stuff!

Crates and I have a slightly more complicated relationship. I’m not usually standing there begging to go inside one, but toss a few good treats in and suddenly I’m willing to reconsider my position. Once I’m settled in, I do just fine.

And while I am house trained, I apparently missed the lesson where dogs are supposed to dramatically announce that they need to go outside. I’m more of a “sure hope somebody remembers” kind of girl. Luckily, I do great with a regular potty routine, so once we have a schedule, we’re golden.

And then there are my little Sadie things.

When I’m especially happy, I do these adorable tiny hops with my front paws.

I meet new people beautifully when one of my humans is beside me, although I can be shy when they aren’t.

And more than anything, I love my family hard.

My time in a home has helped everyone learn something really important about me: I thrive when I have consistency with my humans.

I’m still learning that the people I love can leave and come back. Longer or repeated separations can be hard for me, and sometimes I need a little time afterward to settle back into my routine and feel completely secure again.

It makes sense when you think about it... I spent the beginning of my life without the kind of people you could count on. Now I know what having them feels like and I really, really like it.

So I’m looking for a home where I can be part of everyday life.

I want the boring Tuesday nights. The walks around the neighborhood. The dog bed beside yours. The two-minute zoomie appointments. The following-you-into-the-kitchen-for-absolutely-no-reason.

After spending the beginning of my life without that kind of security, I think I’m allowed to be a little greedy about it now.

My perfect family doesn’t need to entertain me every second of the day. I’m actually a pretty easygoing girl.

I’d just be happiest with people who are around consistently and want a dog who’s genuinely part of their day-to-day life.

Give me that, a comfy dog bed in every room — unless you’re prepared to surrender the couch — and somebody willing to accept a lifetime appointment as my favorite person.

I’ll handle the rest.

Love,
Sadie Jo
