In rescue, there are some dogs who break your heart wide open.
Beau is one of them.
In the early hours of a freezing January morning in 2024, Daisy’s Dane Sanctuary was called in on a animal cruelty case so horrific it still haunts us. What we walked into was nothing short of a nightmare—9 emaciated Great Danes and a Shepard Mix living in filth and despair, starved nearly beyond recognition. These dogs had been surviving off the unthinkable—the remains of their fallen packmates—just to stay alive.
This was not a rescue. This was a recovery. A triage. A fight for survival.
And Beau was one of the survivors.
For the past 18 months, Beau has been in a protective custody foster home, hidden away from the world while the legal process played out. He was placed with an extraordinary foster mom who quietly, consistently, and patiently worked to earn his trust. Every single day, she helped unravel the layers of trauma with nothing but love, structure, and time. She taught him what safety felt like. What routine looked like. That hands could be kind. That toys could be fun. That food would come. That he didn’t have to be afraid anymore.
Now, Beau is finally free—and he’s ready for his forever home.
Who Is Beau Today?
Beau is a combination of goofy charm and gentle soul. He’ll make you laugh with his full-speed zoomies (complete with his signature “tuck-and-run”) and then plop down for snuggles like he’s still a baby Dane. He’s house- and crate-trained, knows sit, down, shake (both paws!), jump, and wait, and absolutely adores plush toys—especially when he gets to destroy them.
Beau is also neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped—he’s ready to go home.
He’s currently living with another Great Dane and has done well with respectful cats. But he’s not a fan of unpredictability, so he needs a home without small children. Fast movements and loud noises can still make him a little nervous, but once he feels safe, his loyalty and affection run deep.
Beau’s Ideal Forever Home:
Beau is ready.
Ready to be seen.
Ready to be safe.
Ready to be loved—not in secret, but out loud.
If you’re looking for a companion with resilience in his bones and sunshine in his heart, Beau might just be your guy.
