Hi, I’m Amaya. I’m a very timid, sensitive girl who is learning how to feel safe in a human world. I came into rescue with significant fear and little trust, and everything new can feel overwhelming for me. I’m not aggressive…I’m scared, and my instinct has always been to retreat and protect myself.
I’m currently in an intensive, structured rehab program focused on confidence building, routine, and controlled exposure. Progress for me looks different than it does for most dogs. Sometimes it’s choosing to stay nearby instead of hiding, allowing space to be shared, or quietly observing instead of fleeing. Those moments matter, and they add up.
I do best with calm energy, predictability, and people who understand that healing isn’t linear. I’m learning that I don’t have to be on high alert all the time, and that safety can exist without pressure. With patience, consistency, and the right environment, I have the potential to continue growing into a more confident version of myself.
