I'm ready for my new family!

Hi! My Name Is Penelope 081626

I'm Available

Hi, I’m Penelope!

First things first: I don’t really walk.

I prance.

Why would I simply walk into a room when I could bounce in like I’ve been personally invited to the greatest party of my life?

New person?! PRANCE.

Someone looked in my direction?! PRANCE.

Is that person potentially available for cuddles?! Excuse me while I PRANCE OVER THERE IMMEDIATELY.

And if you somehow fail to notice that I have arrived and am ready to make your acquaintance, don’t worry. I’ll bark to let you know.

I came to Daisy’s Dane Sanctuary from another shelter after I was found as a stray and nobody came to claim me. Once my stray hold was up, they reached out to the Dane people, and DDS said they’d take it from here!

I arrived very underweight and needing to gain a significant amount before my body catches up with the rest of me. I've also got plenty of scrapes, sores, and other signs that this skinny little body needs some extra TLC.

But apparently nobody remembered to tell me that I’m supposed to be feeling sorry for myself.

Because I am having a FANTASTIC time.

I love people.

Actually, that doesn’t quite cover it.

I LOVE PEOPLE.

Every single person I met on my first day became my newest best friend approximately three seconds after I met them. I walk right up, lean my whole Great Dane body into you, and start collecting cuddles, rubs, kisses, and hugs like they’re payment I am legally owed.

Personal space seems unnecessary when you could simply be touching Penelope instead.

I’m also a very polite little lady when snacks are involved. I take food gently, I know “sit,” and I know “shake.” Considering I’m currently working on gaining quite a bit of weight, you might expect me to snatch every treat in sight.

Nope. Gentle as can be.

And once snack time is over, perhaps you’d like to see my stuffed animal collection?

Because I LOVE stuffed toys.

I’ll grab one, toss it into the air, pounce after it, bounce around, and generally entertain myself like a giant puppy who just discovered that toys exist. Watching this very lanky Great Dane gleefully launching a stuffed animal through the air is exactly as adorable as it sounds.

I’m great with dogs.

I’m great with cats.

I’m great with kids.

And humans in general? Well, I have yet to meet one I didn’t immediately believe was put on this earth specifically to love me.

There is absolutely no stranger danger happening over here.

DDS is going to make sure I get all the medical care I need,  and right now one of my biggest jobs is simply getting healthy and putting some much-needed weight on this skinny little body.

But while everyone else works on that first part, I figured I could get started on my other job:

Finding my family.

Because underneath the scrapes and the skinny body is an absolute gem of a dog who is already shining ridiculously bright.

I don’t know exactly what happened before I got here.

I just know what I’m doing now.

I’m prancing.

I’m playing.

I’m cuddling every human who gets within leaning distance.

And I’m heading straight toward the good part of my story.

Maybe I’m prancing toward you.
